Today I´m going to talk about an article that I think it is very interesting to my and my career.
The article is called “Philosophy will be the key that unlocks artificial intelligence”. Now I´m going to make a little summary about the article.
The human brain is an amazin thing and its capabilities are superior than any sistema of life in the earth. “The brain is the only kind of object capable of understanding that the cosmos is even there” But no brain on the earth is yet closet o Knowing what brains do in order to achieve any of that functionality. AGI (artificial general intelligence) is the company responsable to understanding this complexity.
It isn't too easy, there are some things that even in this days it is difficult to explain, for example, AGI have the ability to be aware of it self, this program has the ability to pass the "mirror test" of being able to use a mirror to infer facts about itself. But the awareness is a complex concept, it is to difficult to explain. “For consciousness we have the problem of ambiguous terminology: the term has a huge range of meanings. At one end of the scale there is the philosophical problem of the nature of subjective sensations which is intimately connected with the problem of AGI; but at the other end, "consciousness" is simply what we lose when we are put under general anaesthetic. Many animals certainly have that”.
Personally, I think that, in part, the psychology has the blame for the “awareness” isn´t an operational concept because since many time the concept has been subject of numerous theorical manipulations. Independently of that, I think that we still can vindicate through interdiciplinary work between neurosciencie, psychologus and engineering technology.
